Advancing Research. Changing Lives.

Our History

In 2013 the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation was born from firsthand experience caring for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias. After many years of owning and operating assisted living communities, our founders developed a deep understanding of the disease—not just from a clinical perspective, but through the day-to-day realities faced by patients and their families.

While many exceptional organizations exist to provide caregiver education, support, and short-term relief, the founders noticed a critical gap: very few organizations were solely dedicated to funding scientific research aimed at finding a cure. This realization became the driving force behind the creation of the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.

“Over the years, our commitment has only deepened as we’ve witnessed friends, colleagues, and loved ones affected by the devastating impact of Alzheimer’s. These personal experiences have strengthened our resolve to pursue not just symptom management—but a true, lasting solution.”

-Douglas Klinowski, Co-Founder & CEO

Our founders believe that Alzheimer’s is not caused by a single factor, but rather by a complex interplay of biological, environmental, and lifestyle influences that accumulate over time. While current treatments may temporarily slow progression, they do not address the underlying causes of the disease. We are focused on cure-oriented research—not just temporary fixes.

Our research partners at the University of Florida’s McKnight Brain Institute share our vision. With support from our foundation, McKnight’s dedicated fellows are advancing groundbreaking research into how holistic health directly influences brain function. Their work is shedding light on how to not only prevent, but possibly reverse, neurodegenerative diseases.

We invite you to join us on this journey—supporting innovative research, driving new discoveries, and working toward a world without Alzheimer’s disease. Together, we can move beyond temporary solutions and toward a cure.
