  • Douglas Klinowski, CEO of the Alzheimer's Research Foundation

    Douglas Klinowski, Co-Founder & CEO

    Douglas Klinowski is the Co-Founder and CEO of the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, where he leads the organization’s mission to accelerate meaningful breakthroughs in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. With a background in healthcare management and decades of experience improving outcomes in senior care, Douglas brings both operational expertise and a deeply personal commitment to this cause. 

    After witnessing the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s on families and recognizing the critical gap in research funding, Douglas founded the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation to ensure that high-potential, forward-thinking scientific work receives the support it needs. He is dedicated to directing resources where they can have the greatest impact—advancing innovative research that moves us closer to prevention, treatment, and ultimately a cure. 

    Under his leadership, the Foundation is built on accountability, purpose, and results, giving donors confidence that their contributions are fueling real progress. Douglas remains driven by a simple belief: that with the right investment in research today, we can change the future for millions of families facing Alzheimer’s tomorrow.

  • Hunter Anstine

    Hunter Anstine, Co-Founder

    Hunter Anstine is a Co-Founder of the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation and a proven leader with a lifelong commitment to service, growth, and community impact. A former U.S. Coast Guardsman, Hunter built a strong foundation in discipline, leadership, and accountability that has guided his professional and philanthropic work.

    Following his military service, Hunter played a key role in the rapid expansion of Rooms To Go, contributing to its growth into the largest furniture retailer in the United States. He later dedicated significant time to advocacy for seniors and families, leading multiple chapters of the Florida Assisted Living Association.

    Motivated by the urgent need for progress in Alzheimer’s research, Hunter co-founded the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation to help ensure that promising scientific initiatives receive critical funding.

    In 2020, Douglas Klinowski assumed full responsibilities as President and CEO, helping expand the Foundation’s impact while building upon its strong foundation. Hunter remains actively involved as a philanthropist and supporter, and his vision continues to guide the Foundation’s work.

  • Laura Paige Slack, MD, Medical Advisor to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation

    Dr. Laura Paige Slack is a board-certified physician in family medicine and geriatric medicine with expertise in post-acute and long-term care. Dr. Slack earned her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and pursued graduate studies at Roehampton University of London before attending St. George's University School of Medicine, where she graduated with honors. 

    Dr. Slack gained clinical experience through medical electives and mission work in China, the United Kingdom, the West Indies, and West Africa. After completing clinical rotations, she pursued a family medicine residency at Florida Hospital South in Orlando and a geriatric medicine fellowship at Winter Park Hospital. She is board-certified in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine.

    Dr. Slack serves as a regional medical director for a national long-term care organization across seven states and acts as medical director of a long-term care accountable care organization.

    Dr. Slack's dedication to advancing Alzheimer's and dementia research is deeply personal, rooted in her grandmother's battle with the disease. She is committed to identifying novel therapeutic approaches and advancing prevention and treatment options to improve outcomes for future generations.
